Not so Tasty Tuesday: {Crafts}

My kids are Play Dough kids. They Love Love Love it and will stay occupied for hours. This is yet again one of my favorite recipes although I wouldn't eat it if I were you. {Smile}

Kool-Aid Play Dough
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of salt
2 packages of unsweetened Kool-Aid
2 cups of boiling water
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Mix all the dry ingredients together well. Stir the oil in with the boiling hot water, then pour this mix into the dry mixture. Stir and knead thoroughly. If you have a heavy duty mixer, such as can handle bread dough, you can use that to speed the mixing.

Kool-Aid Dough Play:
As soon as the mix is cool enough for little hands to safely touch, give the children some of the dough to help knead -- they love it! The dough is soft and warm, and then eventually cools. Meanwhile, it has a great smell -- of whatever flavor Kool-Aid you added into it.

When the dough is cool, get out the rollers and cutters, etc.

Store the dough in a Ziploc bag or air-tight container. Some people claim the dough stores longer in the refrigerator.

Tasty Tuesday: {Easy Breakfast}

So I'm a Big time breakfast girl. Honestly it's my favorite meal of the day and if it's my turn to cook on Sunday (yes we take turns) you can better believe this is what we are eatin'. It's by far my all time favorite. I use the zesty hot sausage but you can use origional if you don't like things to hot.

1 pound Bob Evans Original Sausage Roll or Zesty Hot
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
Salt and black pepper to taste
8 Buttermilk biscuits

Directions
Crumble and cook sausage in large skillet over medium heat until browned. Stir in flour until dissolved. Gradually stir in milk. Cook gravy until thick and bubbly. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot over biscuits. Refrigerate leftovers.

Tasty Tuesday Recipe: {Easy Dinner}

BBQ Pork

I love barbeque. it's one of my all time favorites. Somedays we can't grill out for dinner so this is an easy and very tasty alternative for cold or rainy days when you just need a barbeque fix.

8-10 cups beef broth
3 pounds boneless pork ribs
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce

Directions
1.Pour beef broth into slow cooker and add boneless pork ribs. Make sure you have enough broth to cover ribs. Cook on High heat for 6-8 hours, or until meat shreds easily. (In a pinch I've boiled the ribs in a large pot for 2-3 hours with the same result). Remove meat, and shred with two forks. It will seem that it's not working right away, but it will.

2.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Transfer the shredded pork to a Dutch oven or iron skillet, and stir in barbeque sauce.

3.Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until heated through.

Tasty Recipe: {Cookies}

Aunt Cyndy's Sugar Cookies
Easter and Christmas would just not be the same without these! I have many memories of making these delicious cookies with my aunt.

Easy Roll Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups SIFTED all-purpose flour
1teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup milk

Cream butter; add sugar gradually. Mix in egg yolks and vanilla; blend in sifted dry ingredients and milk; do not over work the dough, chill overnight. Roll 1/8 inch thick on well floured surface; cut with cookie cutters and place on a greased cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugar before baking or frost when cool. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.

Decorating Frosting
2 egg whites
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
Assorted food colors

Beat egg whites until they hold a soft peak. Add sugar gradually and beat until sugar is dissolved and frosting stands in peaks. Add syrup and beat one minute. Use food coloring to get desired color. Add a few drops of water if a thinner frosting is desired. Keep well covered when not in use.
